June, 2008

Dear Parents,

This is the most difficult task of closing the school year of 2007-2008. There have been many things I would love to have shared with you throughout the year about the children, their progress, the challenges and the journey to the outcome. I could boast and brag at any given time about what goes on at Rancocas Friends School.

My enthusiasm for what the children do is only clouded by the fact that this year is over and too quickly! I am thrilled with what the children have done and where they are now. The improvements, the growth, and all the changes that have developed this year, have been a teacher's dream.

The photographs that teacher Suzanne has taken throughout the year are indicative of what we did. Each photograph shows the pride and confidence in the faces of the children. This was a gift to all of us and I thank her for sharing this talent with us so we may relive our very special school year.

Next year will be my fortieth year with Rancocas Friends School, before that as a parent and always as a member of the Friends Meeting. I have experienced many wonderful years in all of those roles. I have met fascinating children, families, and children of past students. I am rich with memories. Every year is good, some better than others and some exceptional. Yhis year was exceptional. We are all equal here and do a lot of talking, each child contributing and involved in our decision making.

The goals and the requirements remain consistant, but it is how we get there that is an exciting journey. (better than the Magic School Bus!) Did you know I truly am in awe of "Miss Frizzle?" I will never stop learning and asking questions as I hope each child will also leave here wanting to learn more, asking questions and wanting answers.

As I look again and again at the photographs of the children it brings back every moment captured in each picture, many show the interaction and caring between the children and the friendships that grew.

I am very sad our year is over, as I write this letter I miss the smiles, the laughter, the frowns, the discussions, the questions, I miss all of it. I am supposed to say... "good luck and have a wonderful year ahead in your new school," so I will and I do, but what I'd really like to say is, "I miss each of you and I love every one of you." I hope I have touched your life as you have mine. Thank you for your support and being a part of the Rancocas Friends School community.

My love to you,

Teacher Nora
